Gina Moxley

Gina is an award-winning writer, actor and director based in Dublin, Ireland. She has been involved in Irish theatre for the past forty years. A Fine Art graduate, she also holds an M.Phil in Creative Writing.
Her first play Danti-Dan was produced by Rough Magic in 1995 and won the Stewart Parker Award. Since then she has written for companies such as Pan Pan, CoisCéim, Fishamble, Cork Capital of Culture, Controvento and National Connections UK. Her most recent play The Patient Gloria, which she also performs in, has had hugely successful runs at St Ann's Warehouse in New York and at Brighton Festival. Previously presented by the Abbey Theatre for Dublin Theatre Festival and at the Traverse Theatre, Edinburgh, where it won a Fringe First and Herald Angel. The show will tour in Ireland in spring 2023. Her most recent piece, I FALL DOWN premiered at the Crawford Art Gallery in association with The Everyman Theatre for Cork Midsummer Festival 2023. She has written several radio plays broadcast by RTE and has published some short stories. Gina has toured extensively with companies such as Pan Pan,Dead Centre and Tim Crouch to festivals in Europe, Asia, USA, Australia and New Zealand. She has been collaborating with artist, Sean Lynch, for over a decade, including his show Adventure:Capital which represented Ireland at the Venice Biennale 2015. She was Irish Patron Playwright at New Plays from Europe Biennale, Wiesbaden, Germany from 2010 to 2014. In 2020, she was elected to Aosdána, an affiliation of Irish artists that have produced a distinguished body of work. |
